Benefiting the Bark Park and assisting seniors with pets

It is time for a jolly, howling Christmas. Animals Always Believe in You is encouraging everyone with a hound, pooch, puppy or mutt to come out to Kings Harbor for a holiday hike to raise money for the Kingwood AABY Bark Park and the Serving Our Seniors program. S.O.S. assists seniors with veterinarian services.

Event information:

• Saturday, Dec. 6 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

• Online registration is available at www.aaby.org.

• Registration begins at 2 p.m., cost: $10 per human and dog team.

• Late registration begins at 2:30 p.m., cost: $15 per human and dog team.

• Hike begins at 3 p.m. with DJ Brian Shoemaker of Zapp Entertainment starting the race.

• Parking is available on the third level of the Kings Harbor parking garage.

Get involved as a team captain, individual walker or as a donor.

Team captains are asked to recruit five walkers with dogs. The team is encouraged to raise monetary pledges per loop of the harbor. Each walker on the team is also asked to help raise pledges per number of loops they walk or raise donations.

Individual walkers can join the AABY Ambassadog team or walk with friends and family.

Donors can sponsor a team, an individual walker, sponsor a water and biscuit station for $200 or support the holiday hike with a donation.

Everyone is encouraged to give their team a cute name befitting the holidays. Examples are: Christmas Cavaliers, the Reindeer Rat Terriers, etc.

“We will have cute dog costumes available for dogs to wear on the hike,” said Kay Pass, founder of Abby

The post walk celebration will include:

· Doggie bags for all participants courtesy of HWD Brownstones.

• Performances by the Kingwood Chorale

• For a small fee, have a picture taken with your dog and Santa and/or Clifford the Big Red Dog

• Santa will light the Kings Harbor Christmas tree.

There will be prizes for:

• Best owner and dog costume

• Best dog costume

• For the most loops around the harbor and for the most pledges.

“We think this will be a great success,” said Pass. “Once again, Jeb Brown from Volunteers for Animal Protection has grown out his beard, he will be Santa. Inside Clifford the Big Red will be Linda Kravitz and Debbie Cleven.”

All proceeds benefit the AABY Foundation a 501(c) nonprofit organization located at 24551 Loop 494.
